Bruce McGill appeared as Weird Ernie in the Quantum Leap pilot Genesis, and as Al The Bartender in the series finale Mirror Image. With his appearance in both the pilot and final episode, it appears there may be a reason Sam sees him twice.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas in July 1950. While at the MacArthur High School he studied theatre. One of his first breaks was in the cult classic film Animal House. From there he would go on to have a varied TV and film career.
