John was named after his grandfather civil war Captain John Beckett, He was a farmer in Elk Ridge and a very stubborn man, but also he was kind and caring towards other people. When Sam lept back as his younger self, He tried to get his dad from smoking and eating too much fatty foods trying to save his dad's life, Unfortunately it didn't work and John still died in 1970.
